Earls Court Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Earls Court Removals to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Earls Court Removals has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, human trafficking, servitude, and any exploitation where individuals are coerced, threatened, or deceived. This applies to every aspect of our business, from direct employees to agency workers, contractors, and suppliers.
We expect the same high standards from all parties we work with. Any supplier, contractor, or business partner found to be involved in modern slavery, or unable or unwilling to take adequate steps to prevent it, may have their relationship with Earls Court Removals suspended or terminated.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Earls Court Removals is a removals and relocation services company providing domestic and commercial moving services. Our activities involve direct employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and a range of suppliers, including providers of vehicles, packing materials, storage facilities, uniforms, and cleaning and maintenance services.
We recognise that certain geographies, industries, and types of work are at higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore seek to identify and address any potential risk areas within our own operations and the extended supply chain supporting our removals services.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and comply with our standards on human rights and labour practices. Our approach includes clear expectations for suppliers and proportionate due diligence processes.
Where appropriate, new suppliers are subject to initial risk assessment, which may cover their location, the nature of the services or goods supplied, and their use of subcontractors or temporary labour. Higher-risk suppliers may be required to provide additional information on working conditions, recruitment practices, and compliance with labour laws.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence demonstrating a supplier’s compliance with our standards. These may be desk-based reviews or on-site visits, carried out by Earls Court Removals or by competent third parties. Where non-compliance or concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers on corrective action plans and monitor progress. Persistent or serious failures may lead to the termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Earls Court Removals encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concern related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unsafe working conditions, unlawful recruitment fees, retention of identity documents, or any indication that a person is working under coercion or threat.
We maintain internal reporting channels to ensure that concerns can be raised confidentially and without fear of retaliation. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and sensitively, with appropriate remedial action taken where necessary. We are committed to protecting anyone who raises a concern in good faith from detrimental treatment or victimisation.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
Earls Court Removals is working to build awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and workforce planning. Training and guidance are provided to help staff recognise signs of exploitation and understand how to respond to concerns.
We regularly review our policies, procedures, and controls to improve our approach. This includes considering feedback from audits, investigations, and industry developments, and strengthening our due diligence where new risks are identified.
Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Earls Court Removals. They ensure that appropriate resources are allocated and that commitments set out in this statement are embedded into our operations.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with applicable legislation and best practice. Any significant changes to our business, supply chains, or the regulatory environment may prompt an earlier review. Following each review, the statement may be updated to reflect enhancements in our controls, due diligence processes, and training.
By maintaining a zero-tolerance approach, working closely with our suppliers, providing clear reporting channels, and committing to regular review and improvement, Earls Court Removals strives to play its part in preventing modern slavery and protecting the rights and dignity of all workers within our sphere of influence.
